The Dreams That Wait for Us in Midlife
There are some dreams that seem willing to wait for us.
They sit quietly in the background of our lives for years, sometimes decades, while we build careers, tend relationships, move through different seasons, and grow into different versions of ourselves.
Becoming an Author in Midlife
The more I wrote about finding comfort within change, the more I began to find it for myself. Somewhere in the writing, the book stopped being only something I was creating for other women. It became part of my own way home.
Midlife Is Not a Rewrite
Somewhere in the middle of all that editing, I realized that we do not ask a manuscript to become a different book. We ask it to become the fullest expression of the book it was always meant to be.
And I began to wonder why we so often expect something different of ourselves.
What Sunflowers Know About Midlife
We know that sunflowers turn toward the sun and follow the light. But the sunflower theory extends beyond botany and goes on to say that when the sun is hidden by clouds or darkness, sunflowers then turn toward one another.
